If you are a normal human, and you don't live on a cut-off-from-civilization pacific island or in Poffadder, you would have heard of the Lord of the Rings. And probably seen it. And probably know that the trilogy was shot in New Zealand.
Now, I'm not a Lord of the Rings nerd or anything, but it's pretty rad to drive through these places, and recognise them from the films. We've crossed over the Misty Mountains twice, for example.

The Misty Mountains, on a clear day
Like I said, I'm not a nerd or anything. But it's rad. Those mountains are the ones that the fellowship crossed in the first film. And where Bilbo chilled for a couple of years. We've also driven through Rohan (riders of Rohan), been to the area where they shot that scene where the Nazgul/Ringwraiths get washed away in the river by Arwen (Liv Tyler's character, the elf who Aragon digs. EVERYBODY knows that), and where the Helms Deep battle went down in the second film. Togs even climbed Mount Doom.
Like I said, not a nerd. It's just near impossible to avoid these spots. And they are rad anyway. Really cool, actually.
There is nothing wrong with being a nerd, by the way.
